The Regional Ministry for Sea and Water Cycle authorises the use of Santa Ponça pinewood for the Rei En Jaume festivities

The Balearic Islands Ministry of the Sea and Water Cycle has authorised the use of Santa Ponça pinewood for the Rei En Jaume celebrations. The Ministry has accepted the recommendations of Calvià Town Hall's Environment Department and has formally communicated its decision in writing to the council.
Calvià Town Hall has thus achieved the dual objective of satisfying the demands of the local groups, who insisted on maintaining camping in the traditional area, while simultaneously respecting a space of high environmental value, namely Santa Ponça beach. As explained by the Mayor of Calvià, Juan Antonio Amengual: "This decision allows us to clearly define the perimeters where camping is permitted and adequately protect the Santa Ponça pinewood dune system. We are pleased because we are responding to our local groups and strictly adhering to the environmental protection criteria." Now we are fully focused on organising these festivities, which are so fundamental to Calvià, moving forward with preparations so that everyone can enjoy them to the fullest.
This resolution allows the use of the Pinada (pinewood) in the usual way during the traditional festivities, always complying with the corresponding safety regulations.
Use must be restricted solely to the central area that is delimited, while a physical enclosure will be erected around the area of high environmental value to prevent access. The use of fire and combustion elements is totally prohibited throughout the entire area. Likewise, the installation of heavy furniture or structures likely to cause soil compaction, such as stages, restrooms, or inflatable structures, is prohibited; these must be located outside the forest area.
