Calvià Town Hall, through the Department of Social Services, is launching a new edition of the Summer Respite Programme during the month of August, a municipal service aimed at people with intellectual disabilities registered and residing in the municipality.
The main novelty this year is the extension of the age range of beneficiaries. While in previous editions the programme was aimed at young people between 14 and 30 years old, this time people between 15 and 59 years old can participate, responding to the growing demand from families and expanding the coverage of this municipal resource.
The Summer Respite Programme, managed by the ASDICA association, aims to offer a space for leisure, social interaction, and participation through adapted free-time and sociocultural activities. At the same time, it provides a support and respite resource for caregiving families, especially for those who need to balance caregiving with work or for elderly relatives who require assistance during the summer.
The Summer Respite Programme is aimed at people between 15 and 59 years old who have an official certificate of intellectual disability. The service cannot assist people who require special care or individualised attention during the activities.
The activities will take place at Es Generador, from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Participants using the lunch service may remain at the centre until 4:00 p.m.
This initiative promotes social participation, the maintenance of personal skills, and the autonomy of people with intellectual disabilities, while offering families a support resource during the summer.
