- The acquisition and discount of vouchers begins on Monday 2nd December
The Calvià Town Hall launches the new campaign to boost local commerce on Monday, 2nd December. With the slogan Calvià lo Vale, the council is putting into circulation during November a total of 14,400 vouchers aimed at people residing in the municipality, over 16 years old. For each voucher, €10 must be paid, although it will have an exchange value of €20, and each person residing in Calvià will be able to opt for a maximum of four vouchers until the available ones are exhausted, which will allow them to purchase products in local shops worth €80 at a price of €40.
In total, Calvià Town Hall will allocate €144,000 to this action, which will generate a significant economic impact after the Black Friday offers and later with the Christmas holidays. In this edition, the procedure is much simpler, thanks to an agreement with the Chamber of Commerce, people interested in the discount will only have to show their ID in the shop where they want to spend. According to the Councilor for Commerce, Benito Ferrer, “vouchers will no longer have to be purchased in advance, facilitating access for the elderly and people reluctant to enter their credit card on websites”. This streamlining of the procedure will facilitate purchases and, therefore, it is expected that the vouchers will be used up sooner.
The mayor of Calvià, Juan Antonio Amengual, has encouraged citizens to access the vouchers through the website calvialovale.com and to benefit from the campaign in the fifty participating shops, not only because it means a discount, but also because it is a way of supporting local businesses in the municipality that are open during the winter. Amengual has highlighted that “all the shops that have joined have this platform that the Chamber of Commerce has launched, which will facilitate payments. Last year, due to the cyber attack, they were delayed a little.”
The sectors interested in offering these discounts range from food to beauty, footwear, sports, hardware, floristry, home, jewelry, pets, fashion, or furniture, among others. The deadline to spend these vouchers does not end until 31st January of next year, 2025.
