- The improvements include, depending on the interventions, renewal of sidewalks, asphalting of roads, planting of new trees, replacement of public lighting, installation of urban furniture, creation of gardened areas or redirection of rainwater
Calvià Town Hall has allocated a total of three million euros in the 2025 budget to undertake improvements to sidewalks and pavements of streets and squares in various areas of the municipality. The so-called "Calvià Millora" continues the effort initiated last year, in which a similar amount was invested with the aim of renewing and modernising road infrastructure, prioritising the safety and comfort of citizens.
The improvements include, depending on the interventions, renewal of sidewalks, paving of roads, planting of new trees, replacement of public lighting with LEDs, installation of street furniture, creation of gardened areas or redirection of rainwater.
Amongst the planned and already implemented actions, the complete renewal of sidewalks and asphalt in streets such as Córdoba St. in Son Caliu, Sebel·lí St. in Peguera and a section of Vía Cabrera in Santa Ponça stand out.
The Town Hall has renewed sidewalks - in some cases complete sections and in others only sections - on Bendinat avenue, on Puig de Saragossa avenue in the Galatzó residential estate, and on Ramon Llull, Bosc and Victoria streets in Portals Nous.
Likewise, the pavement of Collidores d'Oliva square in Calvià village, an emblematic space where municipal festivals and popular activities are held, has been renovated, along with all the public lighting in the area. The square is now more accessible, which especially benefits users of the Llar (Senior Citizens' Home), who had problems due to the previous sandstone pavement. Electrical and water connections have also been installed for events.
On Tudor St. in Son Ferrer, new platforms have been installed for bus stops with integrated green areas, and that section has been resurfaced. Also in Son Ferrer, the council has carried out improvement works on sections in poor condition on Ocell del Paradís St.
Various roads in the municipality that needed renovation due to potholes or because they were severely deteriorated have been resurfaced. The works have taken place on Sant Josep, Sant Joan, Sant Gabriel, and Santa Lavinia streets in Costa d'en Blanes; Sa Costa and Mofarès streets in Calvià village; Alcineretes and Vell streets in Es Capdellà; a section of Santa Ponça avenue; several sections of Illes Balears St. in the Son Bugadelles industrial estate; and Ratolí St. in Peguera.
The mayor visited some of these interventions, along with others carried out on the Paseo del Mar in Palmanova, s'Olivera avenue in Magaluf, and Es Caló d'en Pellicer beach. Juan Antonio Amengual underlined the current Government Team's commitment to improving both the municipality's main avenues and other urban roads so that Calvià can have safe and well-maintained infrastructure.
With this significant investment in renovation and maintenance works, Calvià Town Hall reaffirms its commitment to improving the municipality's public spaces in order to improve the life quality of all Calvià residents.
