Calvià obtains 3 Pajaritas Azules in recognition of excellence in municipal management of the selective collection of paper and cardboard.

  • The awards, granted by the ASPAPEL association, were presented at a ceremony held in Madrid

Calvià Town Hall and the public company Calvià 2000 have been awarded three Pajaritas Azules in the 9th edition of the national programme promoted by ASPAPEL (Spanish Association of Pulp, Paper and Cardboard Manufacturers), in recognition of their work in the selective collection of paper and cardboard.

The recognition was collected by Andrés Barceló, manager of Calvià 2000, representing the municipality at a ceremony held in Madrid which highlighted Calvià's effort and commitment to sustainability and the circular economy.

The Pajaritas Azules are awarded after a rigorous technical evaluation based on 21 key indicators, such as collection efficiency, quality of recycled material, citizen awareness campaigns and regulatory planning.

In this edition, collaboration with the recycling sector has been strengthened through the incorporation of Repacar (Spanish Association of Paper and Cardboard Recyclers) with the aim of continuing to improve the quality of the collection system.

During the event, the national campaign #RecíclateyRecicla was also presented, which celebrates the 25th anniversary of the blue container and promotes its correct use: depositing only paper and cardboard, avoiding other waste.

With this recognition, Calvià reaffirms its leadership as a municipality committed to the environment, consolidating its position as a national benchmark in waste management and recycling.
