The municipality of Calvià will manage a total investment of 25 million € within one year to improve and modernise its infrastructure. This is the largest investment concentrated in such a short period of time in the municipality's recent history, with a total of 16 projects that will be funded by different administrations.
The mayor of Calvià, Juan Antonio Amengual, emphasised that "these projects represent a qualitative leap in the improvement of our infrastructure and the life quality of residents, while strengthening the competitiveness of our tourist destination." The most notable project will be the renovation of the Galatzó houses, with a budget of 5.7 million €, work on which began in August. In addition, major projects will be carried out in several of the municipality's tourist areas, such as the plan to improve sidewalks and urban roads.
In Magaluf, the Hotel Teix will be demolished and the second phase of the improvement of the Gabriel Escarrer Julià beach promenade will begin. In Peguera, the Hostal Colón will be demolished to make way for a public parking lot, the pinewood will be renaturalised, and the comprehensive renovation of the boulevard will begin next October.
The second phase of the improvement and modernisation of Avenida Rei Jaume I in Santa Ponça will begin. In El Toro, the rehabilitation of the covered stage in Plaza Europa will begin. Work will also be done to adapt the Torrenova space, which is already publicly owned, and to repair retaining walls in Illetes. The investments will also include the modernisation of the rainwater network in various areas of the municipality. Funding comes from various sources: European Next Generation funds, aid from the Balearic Islands Government, the Consell de Mallorca, the Spanish Government, and Calvià Town Hall's own funds.
