The Mallorca Open WTA women's tennis tournament will be held on the natural grass courts in Santa Ponça from 17th to 23rd June. The tournament's fourth edition will once again be the prelude to Wimbledon, Grand Slam that many of its players prepare in the Calvià courts. In fact, the only courts of that surface in Spain are in our municipality.
The Mallorca Open is one of the most important women-only sporting events in Spain. In total, the tournament distributes $ 250,000 in cash prizes. The grass courts were designed and built in collaboration with Wimbledon and for the third consecutive year, Toni Nadal will be in charge of the tournament management.
Some of the best national and international players will prepare in Santa Ponça
for Wimbledon. The most renowned players that are known at the moment are Angelique Kerber, Anastasija Sevastova, Caroline García and Belinda Bencic.

The documentation to participate in the Rei En Jaume Photography Awards 2019 edition may be submitted from 17th to 28th June.
In this second edition, it continues with one of the best recognised and interesting contests of the cultural panorama of the islands, thus stimulating the artistic creation and making known our municipality from diverse aspects: historical, leisure, geographical, natural ...
With this purpose, in each call a main theme will be established with the aim of generating coherence and connection between all the works presented. The works will be adapted to this theme, either literally or metaphorically.
For 2019, the theme chosen is "Architecture of Calvià, from the defence towers to the latest avant-garde".
Comprising, from the Middle Ages to the present, this type of buildings: buildings, houses, temples, fortifications and other similar works, whether civil, public, religious, military or private.
The endowments and categories are as follows:
Premi Rei En Jaume unique work: € 700
Premi Rei En Jaume serial work: € 1,000 (from 2 to 6 photographs)
Premi Rei En Jaume portfolio: € 1,300 (between 10 and 20 images)
Organised by the Calvià Town Hall's Culture Department, the rei En Jaume Awards take place in June, July, August and September and represent a continuation of the more than forty years of tradition in which, in the different stages of its history, have counted on the most representative artists of the island and have housed innumerable professionals of the culture world.
The jury of each category, as convened in the last edition, will be formed by 3 people related to the field of photography and the Balearic culture.
Both the composition of the jury and the results of the contest, will not be made public until the celebration of the awards ceremony, during the rei En Jaume festivities and at the Calvià Town Hall's exhibition room, coinciding with the opening of the rei En Jaume Awards 2019 Photograph Exhibition, which will remain open until September 2019.
