Inauguration. Calvia Town Hall and Banca March offer us a selection of 22 works by the mallorquin painter Pere Quetglas Ferrer, Xam (1915-2001), where the real contribution that Xam has made to the non figurative world is placed on record. The artist sensed that he was able to capture abstract concepts in his works and began to set his hands and mind free.
The figure of Xam was a basic factor in the artistic development of Majorca during the post war period of the 1950's Before he was a painter, Pere Quetglas Xam was a characterist and previously drew publicity billboards. Apart from that he was a gallery owner, art teacher and a radio critic under the pseudonym of Pedro Crespo.
