In the workshop-tasting 'Chocolate, a healthy pleasure with conditions', researchers from the CSIC's Institute of Food Science and Technology and Nutrition (ICTAN) will resolve this and other issues related to the false beliefs surrounding this food.
During the activity, the history of cocoa will be reviewed and it will be explained which of its components can have a beneficial effect on the body according to scientific evidence.
All the research carried out has confirmed that cocoa provides a large number of compounds with cardioprotective properties and, therefore, its intake can help protect our cardiovascular health.
The practical part of the workshop will consist of a chocolate tasting to which all attendees are invited. The researchers will teach them how to taste different types of chocolate with their five senses and to appreciate the quality of each one of them through its aroma, touch, flavour, appearance and sound when breaking the ounces.
