The Mallorcan Institute of Space Sciences (IMCE) is organising a scientific evening at the Galatzó Public Estate, on Friday 9th August, dedicated to the observation of the Perseids, commonly known as 'Saint Lawrence tears'. This activity, which has been consolidated year after year since its inception in 2016, offers attendees the opportunity to contemplate this astronomical phenomenon with optimal rigor and technical conditions, accompanied by an expert in astronomy.

The day will begin at 6.30 p.m., with various sessions in Catalan and Spanish, including a guided tour of the estate, sky observation with telescopes, and an introduction to summer constellations, led by the IMCE's president, Lluc Mas. There will also be an open-air dinner, accompanied by the Anaquiños group, which will offer a musical 'conxuro gallego', rooted in popular Celtic traditions.

The IMCE, linked to the University of the Balearic Islands and the European Space Agency, works to spread scientific culture and encourage vocations in this field, especially among young people, in order to contribute to the advancement of astronomical knowledge.

Attendees will have a shuttle bus service at their disposal from the Calvià Sports Palace (on Es Capdellà road), as well as the option of parking near the observation area. Places are limited, so it is necessary to register in advance by emailing reservas@imce.es or by calling 971 91 91 66.
