- 37 information tables and more than 60 professionals will guide young people and clear up their doubts
The Municipal Institute of Education and Libraries of Calvià (IMEB) through the Calvià University Centre (CUC) launches the IX Vocational Guidance Conference "Plan your adventure", one of the most consolidated youth meetings in the municipality. 370 4th year ESO students (IES Calvià, IES Son Ferrer and IES Bendinat) are taking part in the event, which provides tools and resources to help them make decisions about their academic, professional and personal future.
This year, 37 information tables will be set up with a wide range of courses on offer, including Psychology, 2D and 3D design, Medicine, Plumbing, Advertising and Marketing, Video Game Programming, Tourism and Hospitality, Catering and Aviation, amongst others. Once again this year, the Civil Guard, Firefighters, National Police and Army will be taking part in the guiding event. More than 60 professionals from the public and private sectors will be taking part.
The presence of "young mentors" is a repeat of a successful experience. They are slightly older youths who are currently studying or have just graduated and who use their experience to help them find the right training course tailored to their interests.
The day will open at 9 a.m. with a motivational talk and will end at 1 p.m. The following areas have been set up:
Entities' area: Outdoor space at the centre with information points, where the following will participate: public and private educational institutions, which will provide greater knowledge of the range of courses on offer (itineraries, modalities, access, deadlines, etc.), both for vocational training courses and university degrees; and other entities that offer services of interest to students. In addition, to give more visibility and atmosphere to the space, the entities will carry out a workshop related to the studies or services they offer.
Young mentors' area: A closer and more informal space in which young people who have recently graduated, current scholarship holders in municipal services, will share their experiences as students, as well as motivational personal development projects in which they have participated.
Professionals' area: A space inside the centre set up with tables with qualified professionals from different specialities with whom students will have the opportunity to interact to learn about their personal experience and professional career.
