Calvià Town Hall paid tribute this Friday to Illes Balears Palma Futsal and CB Calvià for their respective sporting achievements
Throughout the morning, the three Champions League trophies won by the Mallorcan futsal team occupied a prominent place in the Town Hall's Exhibition Hall, allowing anyone to take a picture next to them.
Furthermore, at noon, Mayor Juan Antonio Amengual presented the Cor Calvianer (Calvià Heart)—a sculpture created by local artist Carlos Terroba—to Calvià native Jose Tirado, in the presence of coach Antonio Vadillo and captain Carlos Barrón.
The CEO of Illes Balears Palma Futsal recalled his close ties to the municipality, evident throughout his career. Amengual, for his part, emphasised the "historic" nature of the feat achieved by Palma Futsal during Tirado's tenure, having already won three Champions League titles and two intercontinental titles.
The club, for its part, presented the Calvià Town Hall with a commemorative Champions League T-shirt.
Also on Friday, the mayor of Calvià welcomed the president of Bàsket Calvià, Juan Carlos Oliver, and the first team's players and coaching staff, led by their coach, Xavi Sastre. In this way, they paid tribute to the blue team for their recent promotion to the 3rd FEB, achieved last weekend after winning the Biel Hurtado Trophy.
The event concluded with a family photo taken outside the Town Hall.
