Presentation of the Calvià medal of merit to Joan Munar
One of the most exciting moments of the gala was performed by the Calvià athlete Joan Munar Martínez, who received the Calvià medal of merit from the mayor. This award serves to recognise Joan's sporting career, highlighting his sporting achievements, including a bronze medal in the long jump at the last Paralympic Games in Paris, or four medals in various world athletics championships. In addition, the award recognises the ability to overcome, perseverance and adaptability that have led Joan Munar Martínez to achieve sporting successes in different disciplines of adapted athletics.
Recognition for 119 athletes and sports technicians from Calvià
The gala also served to give recognition to the 119 people who received a municipal subsidy according to the sporting merits achieved in 2024, in 24 different sports disciplines. The grants distribute a total of 53.000 euros per year in three lines:
Line A: 40.000€ (outstanding athletes born between 2006 and 2012)
Line B: 10.000€ (outstanding athletes born in 2005 and before)

Most of the recognised athletes collected their award, presented by the local authorities in a pleasant and entertaining event that included the participation of Jaime Gili.
Special memory for Armando Pérez
The Mayor included in his speech some emotional words of remembrance for Armando Pérez, president of Playas de Calvià Football Club, who recently passed away.
