The already established festival coincides with Sant Jaume
The Nit de Foc in Calvià village turns 35 with a special edition this Saturday, 19th July. A large turnout is expected, as the 30th anniversary could not be celebrated due to the pandemic. The festivity, consolidated as a municipal tradition, took its first steps in 1990, coinciding with the inauguration of the then-new Town Hall to the cry of «Teniu fam de foc?» (Are you hungry for fire?). The following year, the celebration was institutionalised to make it coincide with Sant Jaume.
The evening of this 35th anniversary will begin at 10 p.m. in the Plaça de l'Església. Half an hour later, the correfoc will start, led by Dimonis de Calvià, which will pass through Plaça de l'Església, Carrer Major, Plaça de la Vila and Carrer de Ca'n Vich to end in the Town Hall's car park. A popular festival will be held in the car park, enlivened by DJ Óscar Romero, which will conclude at 3 in the morning.
