Monday 20th November 2017

Meeting of municipal radios on the occasion of the 30th birthday of Ràdio Calvià

The I Conference on Communication from the Public Administrations held in Peguera closed on Friday 17
th November with the first meeting of municipal radio stations of the islands, on the occasion of the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of Ràdio Calvià, one of the oldest municipal radios of the Balearic Islands.

Participating in the meeting were all the municipal radios currently broadcasting: Alcúdia Ràdio, Titoieta Ràdio, Ràdio Artà, Ràdio Calvià, Ràdio Capdepera, Ràdio Es Castell, Ràdio Felanitx, Ràdio Illa, Ràdio Marratxí, Ràdio Pollença and Ràdio Porreres. The director of Ib3 Ràdio, Mar Cerezález, led a colloquium that began with an emotional memory to the journalist Joana Maria de Roque, recently deceased, and who was the first director of Ràdio Calvià.

The heads of the municipal radio stations discussed the real effectiveness of the municipal radios, their objectives and if they are achieved, if it has to be a generalist radio or specialised in local issues, agreeing on principles such as the proximity of local radios. The relationship of the local radios with the new technologies and social networks, and the challenges that have been overcome and presented in this area were also discussed.

The meeting ended with a party in which participants and professionals who have passed through Ràdio Calvià throughout these 30 years, enjoyed the music of Pep Suasi.
