CALVIÀ EXTENDS THE AREAS OF TRAINING FOR THE PREVENTION OF CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE

After the workshops carried out with the community police, in December they will be taught to health personnel of the municipality

The Town Hall has two collaboration agreements for the fight against child abuse and bullying abuse, both school and out of school

The Town Hall of Calvià, through the entity RANA (Help Network for Abused Children) will carry out two prevention workshops in the health field after the training that took place in February to the Community Police of Calvià. The workshops will be given on 22nd December in the Santa Ponça PAC and the Health Centre of Palmanova.
The intention is to go beyond the activities carried out in the educational field and the objectives are: to understand the reality of sexual abuse of minors, their incidence rates and effects on individuals and society; understand how child sexual abuse occurs; develop resources to act responsibly in cases of sexual abuse of minors; and understand the proactive role that organizations for children and youth must face to protect children and educate their communities about the sexual abuse of minors.
In 2017, the Town Hall of Calvià has signed two collaboration agreements with the non-profit entities Fundación Rana and Fundación Indig for the fight against child abuse and bullying abuse. The agreements total 5,650 euros.
The agreement with Fundación Rana, signed for the second year in a row, aims to carry out and develop the programme "Crida ben fort" in the municipality of Calvià with the aim of implementing the methodology of the programme based on the story Crida ben fort Estela! This programme, based on the story, is a tool that provides children with skills to detect risk situations and act against them. This story-telling, which is offered at eleven public schools of primary education in the municipality, is complemented by a talk aimed at the parents of the children to whom the story is told, and with workshops for professionals who work with childhood.
