THE MUNICIPAL SCHOOL COUNCIL OF CALVIÀ AGREES TO REQUEST TO THE REGIONAL MINISTRY FOR EDUCATION AND UNIVERSITY THE EXPANSION OF PROFESSIONAL TRAINING SPECIALTIES IN THE MUNICIPALITY
The Plenary of the School Council of Calvià, meeting today, has agreed to request to the Regional Ministry for Education and University the expansion of Vocational Training specialties in the Municipality, derived from a proposal that the School Planning and Equipment Commission made in this regard.
Once said commission has completed the work of analysing the situation of the Vocational Training in the municipality, and taking into account the proposals of the secondary education centres of Calvià and the prospecting in the labour field carried out by the Institut de Formació i Ocupació de Calvià (Employment and Training Institute of Calvià IFOC), proposes the establishment in the municipality, the next academic year 2018-19, of a higher level training cycle of "Sociocultural and tourist animation" at the IES Bendinat, a medium-level training cycle of "Installation of refrigerating and air-conditioning systems"at the IES Son Ferrer and a higher level training cycle of "Social Integration" at the Adult Education Centre of Calvià.
The Municipal School Council of Calvià is a consultative and representative body of the educational community of the municipality, and is composed, amongst others, of representatives of parents of students, teachers, schools, and the Town Hall itself. Amongst its other functions, the Muncipal School Council of Calvià develops proposals on the programming of the different teachings of the education system in the municipality, especially on Vocational Training.
