The Town Hall joins the linguistic volunteering campaign «Amb tu, en català», promoted by the entity Paraula – Language Services Centre
The presentation of the linguistic volunteering campaign "AMB TU, EN CATALÀ" for associations and entities of the municipality took place on 29th January at the Adult School of Calvià.
The main activity of the project is to make linguistic pairs formed by a person who has started to speak Catalan, or who wants to improve oral expression, and a person who speaks it regularly, so they can have conversations in Catalan. The idea is that newly arrived people find a framework in which to practice our language, and that helps them to integrate better in our community.
Any person who regularly speaks in the Catalan language of their area can be a linguistic volunteer without having to have any official degree in Catalan-speaking. It is not a course, it is just a relaxed and colloquial conversation. Anyone understanding Catalan enough and speaking it a little and wanting to find a space to practice it calmly can be a volunteer. Each linguistic pair decides the time and place of meeting, without having to be subject to a set schedule.
