MASTER PLAN OF THE PUBLIC ESTATE OF GALATZÓ

The project can be consulted on the Ajuntament's website to make contributions as a prior step to its approval

Calvià Town Hall's website published yesterday the documentation of the master plan of the public estate of Galatzó to gather the opinion of the citizenship, as a prior step to the processing for its approval by the municipal plenary.

The proposal includes the different lines of management and actions that must be carried out on the estate, in different fields, from a technical and objective scope, with the intention of regulating the current and potential uses, making them compatible with sustainability and the respect for the environmental, natural and historical heritage.

The public estate of Galatzó houses several protection figures: areas classified as LIC (PCI), Places of Community Importance (Es Galatzó-s'Esclop and Puig de na Bauçà); natural site of the Serra de Tramuntana; Special Natural Reserve and the PGOU of Calvià that catalogues the estate's surface in three categories: Areas of Natural Interest, Areas of Forestry Interest and Area of Landscape Interest.

-The general objectives that are posed in the Master Plan are as follows:

-Preserve and maintain the Galatzó estate and its environmental and traditional values.
-Establish a new farm management model.
-Keep alive the agricultural system prioritising traditional landscape values.
-Dissemination, awareness and sustainable enjoyment of citizenship.
-Regulate existing and potential uses.
-Elaborate a plan of uses and efficient management of Galatzó, which allows to achieve the proposed objectives in the medium term.
-Juggling and zoning the farm's uses.
-Promote sustainable tourism as a management model, avoiding the creation of impacts that could negatively affect natural and cultural values.

The Master Plan was drafted in 2017 by the Natural and Urban Environment Service of Calvià Town Hall, through the Joves Qualificats programme of the IFOC (Employment and Training Institute of Calvià) and the co-financing of the SEPE (State Public Employment Service) and the ESF (European Social Fund).
