Agreement with Treball Solidari

Tuesday 29th May 2018

WOMEN OF CALVIÀ WILL BE BENEFICIARIES OF THE MICROCREDIT PROGRAMME FOR SELF-EMPLOYMENT OF THE TREBALL SOLIDARI ASSOCIATION

The Calvià Town Hall contributes with 33,950 euros through an agreement that has been signed today with the entity

The mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, and the director of the Treball Solidari Association, Antoni Sierra, have signed a collaboration agreement that will allow women from the municipality of Calvià in a situation of social and / or financial exclusion to access the microcredits programme for self-employment carried out by the social entity. The Town Hall contributes with 33,950 euros for the development of this programme in the municipality.

The purpose of this agreement is the implementation by Treball Solidari, in collaboration with the different services of the Town Hall, of a programme to give technical and financial support to self-employment and to the creation and strengthening of small businesses and income generating activities. It wants to give impetus to women who have started small business initiatives or those who are willing to do so and need technical support, accompaniment and funding to carry out the self-employment activity. In 2016 and 2017, the Town Hall and Treball Solidari signed agreements in this regard, and the experience has been considered positive. Last year, 16 women were granted micro-credits for a total amount of € 21,750.

The programme is aimed at women residents and registered in Calvià and who live in a situation of social and / or financial exclusion. These beneficiary women, who will receive small loans that will be returned monthly, will come out from a selection process in which the Treball Solidari technicians and different services of Calvià Town Hall will participate in coordination, especially from the Social Services department and the IFOC. The beneficiary women will be selected with the following criteria and priorities: unemployment situation, single-parent families, immigrant women with authorisation to work in Spain, women over 50 years of age with long-term unemployment and young people with difficulties in entering the labour market.

The agreement-signing event was also attended by the deputy mayor for Social Cohesion and Equality, Nati Francés; the councillor for Social Welfare and Senior Citizens, Mayte Albertí, and the general director of Social Development and Equity, Ana Pérez; and the technical coordinator of the Treball Solidari 'Confia' Programme, Mónica Ferrà.
