MAPCAL and XADPEP meeting

Tuesday 5th June 2018

Board of Attention to people who practise prostitution in Calvià, with the Attention network of the City Hall of Palma

The Board of Attention to Persons Practising Prostitution in Calvià (MAPCAL), chaired by the deputy mayor for Social Cohesion and Equality, Nati Francés, met this morning with the Attention to Persons Practising Prostitution Network in Palma (XADPEP), headed by the councillor for Equality, Youth and Civic Rights, Aligi Molina. The meeting was also attended by the island's director of Equality, Nina Parrón, to make a joint effort before the situation that is taking place in the area of Punta Ballena and that transcends beyond the local level, since they are mafias that subject women, to whom exploit and extort, and that, due to their actions, put at risk the coexistence in the area.

MAPCAL is made up of different departments of Calvià Town Hall headed by Social Cohesion and Equality, municipal political groups (Partido Popular, Esquerra Oberta and Grupo Mixto), Local Police, Civil Guard, IbSalut, IbDona, Metges del Món, Casal Petit, Creu Roja, Government Delegation and has the collaboration of the UIB. It was created a year and a half ago, approximately, and has been meeting periodically.

From the Town Hall, it has been communicated the concern about the situation that is taking place in the Punta Ballena area, stressing that it will always be on the side of legality, fighting against any crime, wherever it comes from, and that the action must come only from the security forces.

The Calvià Town Hall insists on the need for the Government Delegate to intensify her involvement and increase in a real way the Civil Guard's device in the municipality, precisely to prevent conflicts and prevent them from resulting in more serious situations. In this regard, mayor Alfonso Rodríguez Badal will reiterate this request to the new Government Delegate, while regretting that, to date, there has been no response to the letter he sent on Wednesday 30
th May.

So, from today, the mayor requests whoever will occupy the maximum position in the Delegation of the State Government in the Balearic Islands, and who will be appointed Minister of the Interior, to be more sensitive and aware that the only way to end this situation is to attack the root of the problem in an energetic way, ending with the mafias that are the true origin of the created conflicts.
