CALVIÀ PARTICIPATES IN THE 'STEVE' EUROPEAN PROJECT TOGETHER WITH OTHER THREE EUROPEAN CITIES AND 21 PUBLIC AND PRIVATE PARTNERS

The STEVE project aims to evaluate and analyse the market and the acceptance of light electric vehicles

Calvià develops a pilot plan for electric mobility of light vehicles framed in the STEVE (Smart-Taylored L-category Electric Vehicle demonstration in hEtherogeneous urbanusecases) European project that has a budget of 9.5 million euros, and in which, in addition to Calvià, other three European cities participate: Turin (Italy), Venaria Reale (Italy) and Villach (Austria). This initiative, co-financed by the European Commission within the H2020 Research and Innovation programme, is framed within the field of transport and electric mobility and aims to evaluate and analyse the market and the acceptance of light electric vehicles (LEVS) demonstrating
their viability and generating greater social awareness.

To this end, the portal has already been launched, in which surveys are carried out in order to identify users needs, and, on its behalf, the Calvià Town Hall will provide computers in the Tourist Information offices in Peguera and Magaluf to facilitate visitors to fill in the survey, and will ask for the collaboration of the tourist agents so that they also facilitate the participation of their clients in carrying out the surveys.

Calvià participates in this project, along with other 21 public and private partners, with the aim of promoting smart mobility to improve the life quality of citizens and become a benchmark for tourism and environmental quality. Being part of this initiative is, also, an opportunity for the municipality since Calvià can plan a three-year plan that will result in an improvement of electric charging-point infrastructures, achieve a larger volume of light electric vehicles and endow the municipality with tourist routes for this type of vehicles.

Calvià participates in this project because of its touristic municipality status, so it will be important the involvement of economic and tourism agents of the municipality, to whom the pilot project has already been transferred. The councillor for Natural and Urban Environment of the Town Hall, Francisca Muñoz, participates this week at the Turin meeting in which the different pilot plans are presented.
