British ambassador visits Calvią

BRITISH AMBASSADOR VISITS THE MAYOR OF CALVIÀ


The mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, received the British Ambassador, Simon Manley, this morning at the Calvià Town Hall as part of the visit of the diplomat to the Balearic Islands.

 

During the meeting, the mayor and the ambassador reinforced the will and interest to continue working closely as both institutions have been doing throughout, especially, in the last summers in which the municipality hosts around 500,000 British visitors, which means the highest percentage of tourists by nationalities that receives the municipality, in which around 5,000 British people live. 

Both, the mayor and the ambassador expressed their willingness to continue with this collaboration that has been carried out with the Consulate in the Balearic Islands, through the measures that are being adopted, both here and in origin, to fight against drunkenness tourism. 

The ambassador was accompanied by the British Consul, Lloyd Milen, and the vice consul, Lucy Gorman. The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Mayor for Security, Andreu Serra, and the head of the International Community Deparment, Dolina Reynolds.
