Tribute to Mario Mola

CALVIÀ PAYS TRIBUTE TO THE THREE-TIME WORLD CHAMPION MARIO MOLA


Both, Calvià Town Hall and ADA Calvià Athletics Club held a well-deserved tribute to Mario Mola this afternoon at the athletics track in Magaluf for his third triathlon world championship achieved on the Gold Coast (Australia) last 16
th September. The act was attended by the mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal; the regional minister for Culture, Participation and Sports, Fanny Tur; Mola's relatives and more than 200 followers of the triathlete who did not want to miss the opportunity to first-hand enjoy a world champion.


The event began at 5.30 p.m. with a meeting with the boys and girls of the athletics schools of the municipality. Mola has signed T-shirts, has been photographed with the athletes and has answered the questions, in addition to giving some advice to the little ones. Subsequently, the institutional event took place with the welcome of the mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal.

Mola, who this past weekend has competed in the Super League Triathlon of Jersey, has been accompanied by his parents, his grandparents, his brother Lucas and other relatives and friends.

During his speech, the mayor of Calvià stressed that this act of recognition to a great athlete like Mario, enhances the municipality of Calvià. In assessing the great career of Mola, the mayor wanted to highlight not only the trichampionship, but a trajectory of successes that goes back to the last six years. Finally, the Mayor has indicated that Calvià is a municipality dedicated to the promotion of grassroots sports and that references such as Mario Mola undoubtedly help to strengthen this field. His parliament has concluded highlighting that Calvià takes pride at having Mario Mola as one of his reference athletes.


For his part, Mario Mola has been grateful to the municipality and his club ADA CALVIÀ for the recognition and for the constancy in the help to have been able to carry out his sport. He has dedicated a few words to highlight the great support of his family, making a special mention to his partner, also triathlete, Carolina Routier, "Seeing how she has been able to deal with the accident, her courage and effort, has encouraged me to give the most, this is in large part because of her. "
