INFORMATIVE NOTE FROM THE LOCAL POLICE OF CALVIÀ

TEN PREMISES REPORTED IN CALVIÀ FOR BREACHING THE REGULATIONS RELATED TO COVID-19 PREVENTION

Last week, police officers had to close off the coves in the Illetes and Portals Vells areas to avoid crowds

Officers of the Local Police of Calvià, together with the Civil Guard and inspectors of the Balearic Government, continue to carry out inspection campaigns during the weekend to check if the regulations regarding the plan of exceptional measures to face the pandemic are being complied with. This action, added to the one that the Local Police carries out the rest of the days of the week, has resulted in the drafting of ten reports, six of them in Santa Ponça. In addition, it has collaborated in the precautionary closure operation of two premises in the area dedicated to leisure and restoration at the request of the General Directorate of Emergencies and Interior of the Regional Ministry of Public Administrations and Modernization. Some of these breaches were allowing the use of the dance floor, not maintaining a safe distance between groups, or providing 30 cm long straws so that one or more clients could drink.

On the other hand, a disco bar and restaurant in Palmanova has been alerted that it can also be closed in a precautionary manner if it persists in non-compliance with the regulations, since a report has been drafted for allowing the use of the dance floor, and the bar, for not keeping safe distances between groups, because the staff did not wear the face mask properly or due to lack of information about the capacity and hours of the premises. In the same area, reports have been drafted at a beach bar because the staff did not use face masks, the distance between tables was not kept and there was no informational poster about the capacity.

Likewise, two administrative reports have been raised, to a premises and to a client, of a fast food establishment in Magaluf, also for not following Covid standards.

Bottle parties and face masks

At 2:40 am on Sunday morning, Calvià Local Police officers fined 13 young people from a group who were carrying out a bottle party in a Santa Ponça car park.

Regarding the use of face masks, on Thursday afternoon the Calvià Local Police were alerted by residents of El Toro that there was a large concentration of teenagers. The police located them and proposed for five of them for a fine, who are between 14 and 16 years old, for not wearing the face mask correctly. Likewise, three young people who were walking at night in Magaluf were punished for the same reason and for lack of respect for authority.

Also in reference to the use of the face mask, three complaints have been filed against passengers at vehicle controls for not wearing it or not wearing it correctly.

Noise

Throughout the week, the Local Police of Calvià has answered several calls for complaints of noise from private parties or concentrations of young people on beaches. However, in most cases it has been enough to notify the supposed people causing of the annoyances. In fact, groups of young people have been observed at night and on the beach who maintained safe distances and wore face masks.

In spite of everything, a bar in Santa Ponça has been reported due to the sound of the television being too high and a restaurant in the area has been temporarily closed because a kitchen had been set up in the warehouse area and this caused noise to a neighboring bedroom.

Beaches

Since recreational bathing is allowed, the Local Police have maintained the beach operation to control that the necessary distance between people is met according to current regulations. Despite this, access to some coves on the Calvià coast must continue to be limited temporarily. Crowds have been avoided in the coves closest to Palma, such as Comtessa, Xinxell, Buganvíl • lea, and Balneari d'Illetes, or those of Portals Vells and nearby, such as El Mago and Cala del Rei. Normally, the allowed capacity is full before noon, so access does not reopen until after 6:00 p.m. Since this fact is recurrent, the Calvià Town Hall suggests that bathers choose to go to the large sandy areas of the municipality where there are no crowding problems or, at least, avoid going to these coves during the central hours of the day.

Despite all these incidents, it should be noted that the municipality of Calvià is the one that has suffered the most notable drop in crime during the first half of the year. In Calvià, crimes have fallen by 45.4% in the first semester, which according to the Ministry of the Interior is explained above all by the months of the state of alarm and lockdown.
