Friday 29th July 2022

63 CALVIÀ STUDENTS HAVE PARTICIPATED IN THE VOCATIONAL INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME THAT ALLOWS THEM TO LIVE A REAL EXPERIENCE WITHIN THE LABOUR WORLD

The programme is aimed at students in 4th ESO and 1st Baccalaureate and the three IES of the municipality have participated as well as about 60 companies and public and private entities

A total of 63 Calvià students have participated in this Vocational Internship course that, once again, has been launched by Calvià Town Hall through the Calvià University Centre (CUC), part of the Municipal Institute of Education and Libraries (IMEB). A project in which 58 companies and public and private entities and the three high schools in the municipality have participated.

Within this project, 4th ESO and 1st Baccalaureate students are offered the opportunity to live a real experience within the labour world, doing internships with professionals from different fields. In this way, students obtain information about the different professions while helping them to design their own academic and professional path that facilitates them not only the immediate decision about their alternatives for the next year, but also the formulation of a project in the medium-long term.

The students have received the accrediting diploma from the mayor, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal; the deputy mayor for Education and Employment, Olga Granados, and the manager of the IMEB, Borja Martorell.

The mayor, after thanking the municipal high schools, private companies and public bodies, and municipal departments for their collaboration and involvement, highlighted the importance of this programme, which began in the 2016-2017 academic year, because "young people can design not only their labour future but also their academic future, and there is a collaboration of all areas, public and private, so that they have the best training, because the future of the municipality is built with the training of its youths".

The Vocational Internships have a maximum duration of 12 hours and are carried out during the summer school holidays, and the three Calvià high schools (IES Calvià, IES Son Ferrer and IES Bendinat), private companies from all areas and public entities, also from all areas, such as the IMAS or the Son Espases Hospital, as well as municipal departments, have collaborated in them.
