EUROPEAN ARCHEOLOGY DAYS AT PUIG DE SA MORISCA ARCHAEOLOGICAL PARK

The European Archeology Days will take place on 16th and 17th June, the main purpose of which is to make known our rich archaeological heritage.
From the Puig de sa Morisca Archaeological park we join this initiative and we offer two activities.

Friday 16th June from 7 to 8 p.m.

Lecture "Death in the prehistory of Mallorca: a sensory experience" by Dr. Margalida Coll, ArqueoUIB researcher.
Concern for death has been central to the development of humanity.
In this conference, led by the expert Dr. Coll, we will delve into the funerary practices that were developed in the post-layotic communities at the end of Mallorca's prehistory.
We will go beyond mortuary objects and we will take a tour through the sensations and emotions that marked the funeral experiences of people from the past during the burial process of one of the members of the community.

Saturday 17th June from 11.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m.

Family workshop "Dying in prehistoric Mallorca: objects, rituals and people" by Dr. Margalida Coll, ArqueoUIB researcher and member of Sa Morisca Archaeological Park technical team. Aimed at families with children between 6 and 12 years old.
In this workshop, a post-talayotic burial from the last phase of Mallorca's prehistory will be recreated. From Dr. Coll's expert hand we will become the protagonists of prehistoric funeral rituals, first-hand experiencing the mix of sounds, noises, smells, lights and textures that characterised them, and thus better understand the people who lived more than 2.000 years ago in Mallorca.
