10,000 visitors at the XXIV Fira d’Oví i Caprí that breaks participation records
The traditional Calvià fair is already preparing its quarter of a century for next year
Full streets in Calvià vila during the weekend for the celebration of the Fira d'Oví i Caprí. The fair has exceeded the best expectations. According to sources from the municipality's Local Police, up to 10,000 people have visited the fair, which included the participation of many exhibitors and livestock farmers.
This Sunday the prizes for the morphological competition were awarded and were decided as follows:
· Winner of the best Mallorcan male competition: Sebastiá Sastre Barceló SON ROIG (Calvià)
· Winner of the best Mallorcan red male competition: Tomeu Coll Jiménez CAN SEGUINA (Andratx)
· Best Mallorcan sheep pen: Miquel Sastre Simó SON ALFONSO
· Best Mallorcan red sheep pen: Ramón Alemany Hoyos CAN PAU (Andratx)
· Best goat corral presentation: Tomeu Coll Jiménez CAN SEGUINA (Andratx)
· Best sheep pen presentation: Jaume Pallicer Sánchez SON LLUCH (Calvià)
· Prize by popular vote: Jaume Pallicer Sánchez SON LLUCH CORRAL 48
The winners received a traditional shepherd's "gaiato" handmade in Mallorca with a commemorative inscription of the fair.
Next year will mark the quarter century of the Fira d'Oví i Caprí, a celebration that confirms the consolidation of the fair as a reference in the rural sector of Mallorca.
